"The Cancer Council recommends that all workplaces adopt an ultraviolet (UV) radiation protection program. The program should include a comprehensive policy and strategies for the early detection and prevention of skin cancer in the workplace"


The Occupational Health and Safety Act

The Occupational Health and Safety Act state that employers have a duty of care towards their employees. Exposure to UVR has been recognised as an occupational health and safety hazard and employees who work outside must be protected from its harmful effects. Workplaces that employ outdoor workers have a responsibility under the Act to develop and implement a sun protection policy and provide ongoing training to support it.
